Judges comments on Best In Show:

"A real surprise against other very strong drawing techniques in this section, I was struck by the simplicity of the subject matter. This beautifully balanced composition makes use of wonderful texture, dappled light and masterfully subdued colour. This is a wonderful example of the possibilities for good subject matter in unexpected and often overlooked places that are around us."

September -
A new range of features has been unleashed upon the website, as well as a redesigned layout and look. New features and major changes include:
- 2006 exhibition gallery uploaded
- New layout and graphical changes
- 'Add to mailing list' request
- New contact form
- PHP coded gallery system

The 2005 exhibition will soon be available to browse on back catalogue.

July - August -
Solo exhibition preparation.

June -
Pastel Demonstration "Artist at Work" Malvern Town Hall - Banquet Room. Sat 3rd, 10am-12 noon.

Another year of great demo's, and a good sized group of would-be painters watched as Simon worked up an golden but earthy toned Venice street scene, with that special light that only Venice has.

A more Impressionistic response to subject matter ensures a new direction for the solo exhibition in September.

2005

September –
My solo show just finished, we return to Cairns to soak up some more inspirational tropical river-scapes and lush rain forest.

August -
Currently working feverishly to complete my latest exhibition, my 19th consecutive, solo show. This year it will be at the Malvern Artist's Gallery, opening September 9.

July -
Another short trip, this time to Tasmania, our ‘home away from home’. Gathering more inspiration from the Derwent Valley for my next show.

June -
Participated in the ‘Artists At Work’ day at the Malvern Town Hall on Saturday 25 June. Hundreds of novice and experienced artists crowded in to watch oil, watercolour and pastel artists demonstrate to eager learners with still life, landscape and portrait subjects worked up in a couple of hours. I loved the interaction with the onlookers who had plenty of questions and watched me intensely as I developed a dark rain forest gully with a tonal approach.

April -
A short visit to Tasmania found some more Huon Valley visions that featured so prominently in my last exhibition. Next Judy and I travelled to Cairns for a short but intensive exploration of the Daintree Rain Forest, Atherton Tablelands and Cape Tribulation. Inspiring and exciting material for my forthcoming solo exhibition.
